Piano Tuning in Staffordshire
Staffordshire is home. GEV Chapman & Son was founded here in 1979, and the business has been based in the county ever since. Two generations of the Chapman family have tuned the pianos of Staffordshire's homes, schools, churches and village halls for over four decades.
Tuning in Staffordshire
A local tuner, with a concert-hall standard.
Staffordshire is where the Chapman family founded the business in 1979, and it remains our home. George Chapman started with a round of private customers built on word-of-mouth across the county, and his son John has carried that round — and that reputation — forward for over thirty years.
In 2000, John purchased a tuning round of around 300 customers from the widow of the late Brian Thurlow, deepening the business's roots across Stafford and the surrounding towns. Many of the families we tune for today have been with us for longer than John has been running the business.
Whether your piano is in a farmhouse outside Stafford, a terrace in Lichfield, or a school hall in Cannock, you are within our regular round — and you will receive the same Steinway-trained standard that we bring to Symphony Hall.

“I have been getting my piano tuned by GEV Chapman & Son for several years now, and I can't praise them enough for their workmanship. The piano tuner is always on time and if I notice a problem in the run up to the tuning it is always fixed no matter how long it takes them.”

“Jonathan has tuned our piano for years, before that, his Father, George, did it. Both very competent and a pleasure to deal with over the past 32 years.”

“Chapman (father and son) have been tuning our piano since about 1985! They have always been lovely to work with, professional, courteous, prompt and reliable and most importantly the piano always sounds wonderful once they have finished. I wouldn't go anywhere else to get our piano tuned. Highly recommend.”

“John has been visiting us for many years now, replacing his father who first tuned our piano over thirty years ago. He has looked after the same piano in all that time and always manages to restore it to concert pitch whatever the state of tuning he finds. He is always on time and is very professional, managing to complete the tuning efficiently and yet finding time for catch up conversation. It is a pleasure to have him visit and to watch a skilled technician at work. We recommend him without hesitation.”

“GEV Chapman & Son have been tuning my pre-1960s family pianos for about 15 years. His knowledge, interest & care for the pianos I have had (old & not expensive pianos) is excellent and as a result they have always played beautifully. The service is very professional in terms of administration of appointments etc and he is always reliable & on time. A first class service at a very reasonable cost.”
